At Craftwork Cards we strive to source and create products that are innovative, of high quality and design, and are fun and inspiring to use.
I started Craftwork Cards in 1999 with £100 borrowed from my partner Richard. Working from my attic at home making hand-made cards I had caught the 'stamping bug' and had become frustrated with the lack of variety of Blank Cards available to crafters. Everything was either white, cream or had an aperture! Having come from a design and print background I knew there were lots of exciting papers and card products available. I contacted a friend of mine who had a printing company and he made me some Card Blanks in different textures and colours. I produced a small photocopied brochure and placed my first advertisement in Crafts Beautiful - Craftwork Cards was born.
Over the next couple of years the company grew and in April 2002 we bought out my friends printing company and took on his small factory unit and staff. During this time Richard and I exhibited our products at Craft Shows up and down the country, and it was at one of these exhibitions I met my great friend Julie Hickey. Julie at that time worked at the Craft Barn in Lingfield as a tutor. She approached us and said what fantastic products we had, but what we really needed was a demonstrator. We took Julie up on the offer and Julie joined the Craftwork Cards team.
In the Autumn of 2001 I mentioned to Richard and Julie that I had the idea of starting a Card Club. I researched how other clubs operated, and after endless phone calls the ideas fused and in January 2002 Craftwork Cards Card Club was launched. It was an immediate success. Since then the Club has gone from strength to strength and in April 2004 the company moved to larger premises.
Having great products is only the beginning for us. We work extremely hard to provide an unending supply of inspirational ideas. The online store has taken months to develop and does not carry all our product ranges. Our aim is to update the store on a weekly basis. Over the coming months we will introduce a Members card gallery and many more inspirational projects - together with hints and tips from the experts.
